Psychotherapy for children and adolescents
At times the normal emotional development of a child or adolescent can become derailed by severe anxiety, anger or depression. However, they have different reactions than adults to these emotions. Instead of talking about their feelings, they act them out. They may demonstrate behaviors such as:
- tantrums
- fighting
- constantly arguing
- disobeying
- lying
- school failure
- withdrawal
- difficulty forming friendships
- oppositional behavior
- school phobia
- play therapy
- therapeutic games
- cognitive behavioral therapy
- desensitization (anxiety)
- stress inoculation therapy
- parent consultation and training
